Upcoming Major Production

Sylvia

Habersham Community Theatre will mark the end of its 2007-2008 season with Sylvia, a modern adult romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog.

A married couple, Greg and Kate, move to Manhattan after 22 years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg’s career as a financial trader is winding down, while Kate’s career, as a public-school English teacher, is beginning to offer her more opportunities.

Greg brings home a dog he found in the park bearing only the name “Sylvia” on her name tag. Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. Sylvia offers Greg an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle age. As for Kate, she’s a rival for Greg’s affection.

The production dates for Sylvia, directed by Millie Adcox are August 1-3, 7-9.

Call for Directors

Submit Your Proposal : Anyone interested in directing a play for HCT is invited to submit ideas and proposals for plays he or she would like to direct. If you have a copy of the script, please send it to Vice President of Productions at P O Box 846 Clarkesville, GA 30523.

If you do not have a copy of the script, please email us and provide your name, the title of the play and the author's name.

The Play Reading Committee meets in the Fall to compile a list of productions to consider and to begin reading the selections. Later, the committee will hold a meeting for invited directors to present the ideas for their proposed play.

After deliberation, the committee will present the proposed schedule to the Board of Directors. Depending on the Board's approval, next year's theatre season should be final by May at the latest.

We look forward to hearing great ideas from the talented directors in our area. All crew, actors, and directors are volunteers. Suggestions from audience members as to what they would like to see at HCT are also very welcome.
